How it is made

Warp partners move across each other around the weft rather than remaining in fixed parallel columns. This crossing helps hold the open mesh together.

How to recognize it

Under magnification, follow the twisting warp pairs around the weft crossings.

What to distinguish

A normal binary over-under grid cannot show the lateral warp crossings. The illustration is only a visual cue, not a leno draft.
