A three-thread twill repeat places more warp than weft on the illustrated face.

How it is made

Each warp goes over two picks and under one. Shifting the crossing by one yarn on successive picks produces a three-end, three-pick diagonal repeat.

How to recognize it

The visible floats are shorter than those in 3/1 twill, with a contrasting reverse.

The numbers describe warp-over and warp-under counts, not yarn colors or the number of plies.
