How it is made

Plain weave can be extended along warp or weft while retaining alternating interlacing groups. Yarn thickness and close spacing determine how strongly the ribs stand out.

How to recognize it

Look for repeated lengthwise or crosswise ridges rather than a diagonal twill line.

What to distinguish

Woven rib is structurally different from knitted rib, and a ribbed appearance alone does not identify one exact weave.
